Current Maine State Legislation and Petitions

In any session, there are a number of Pro-Life and Pro-Abortion bills. We encourage you to get to know your State Representative and State Senator and let them know how you feel about these bills. When contacting your legislator, please do the following:

  • In the subject line, state: Support (or oppose) the LD #. NOTE: Currently, a number of bills have not yet been assigned LD #’s this session. The Maine Legislature Calendar will provide you with an update and let you know when the hearing is.
  • In the body, be courteous, and thank them for their service – state your reasons for or against.
  • Be sure to include your name and your town at the end of your email and/or letter. This is very important! Legislators receive a lot of mail, and they pay very close attention to people who are their constituents.

Path of Maine State Legislation

Stop Late-Term Abortion in Maine

Sign the Petition

Abortions in Maine can take place after 20 weeks post-conception, even when scientific evidence shows unborn children can experience pain while being killed. MRLC continually supports legislation to protect these pain-capable unborn children.

Petition: Ban Abortion Pill

Tell CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid to Stop Dispensing Deadly Abortion Pills

Whereas the drug mifepristone is used to take the lives of unborn children and;

Whereas the drug mifepristone has also been associated with potentially severe side effects for their mothers, resulting in visits to the emergency room for more than 10% of patients and complications such as infection, hemorrhage, or ruptured ectopic pregnancy for as many as 5.2% of those taking the drug, and has been linked to 28 deaths in the United States alone, and;

Whereas CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid pharmacies have recently announced plans to dispense this dangerous and lethal drug and;

Whereas pharmacies traditionally have been, and should be, operated for the purpose of providing drugs that cure and treat disease rather than killing;

Therefore, be it resolved that we, the undersigned, call upon the management and board of directors of CVS Health Corporation, Walgreens Boots Alliance, and Rite Aid Corp pharmacies to reverse their decision immediately and cease to dispense this lethal and dangerous drug.
