National Right to Life on President Donald J. Trump’s

Position on Abortion

WASHINGTON — Today, President Donald Trump stated his campaign position on the abortion issue for his administration post-Dobbs.

“National Right to Life praises President Trump for his work in ensuring that the wrongly decided Roe v. Wade was abandoned to the garbage heap of history,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “In his first term, President Trump demonstrated extraordinary leadership and delivered historic results on behalf of vulnerable unborn children and their mothers.”

Tobias continued, “Thanks to President Trump, the American people and their elected representatives on the state and federal levels now have greater authority to determine abortion policy and pass meaningful protections for unborn children and their mothers. Efforts on the federal level include undoing pro-abortion policies enacted by Joe Biden based on a wish list of the abortion industry.”

Throughout his time in office, President Trump championed policies designed to safeguard the lives of both unborn children and their mothers from unlimited abortions.

  • Along with a consistent majority of Americans, President Trump opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortions. In 2017, Trump issued a statement of support for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, a bill that would bar taxpayer funding for abortions on a government-wide basis with exceptions for when the life of the mother is at risk or in cases of rape, incest, or medical emergency.

  • As one of his first actions as president in 2017, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy to halt the flow of American tax dollars to organizations that perform or promote abortions overseas. He later expanded this policy as the “Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Policy” to prevent foreign aid from being used to fund the global abortion industry.

  • President Trump supports the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would ensure that an infant born alive during an abortion attempt is afforded the same degree of medical care as any other infant born at the same gestational age.

  • President Trump opposes the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act, also referred to as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act,” an extreme bill pushed by Democrats that would enshrine unlimited abortion in federal law and policies and tear down virtually all protections for unborn children and their mothers on the state level including laws requiring parental involvement before an abortion is performed on a minor.

In contrast, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been almost laser-focused on promoting the administration’s support of the abortion industry and the killing of vulnerable preborn babies. Vice President Harris made the unprecedented move of visiting an unlicensed abortion facility.

In a second term, Biden and Harris have made it no secret that they plan to institute a radical, nationwide policy that will allow unlimited abortions for any reason until birth and that they want to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions.

We look forward to defeating the pro-abortion Biden-Harris ticket and working with President Trump to build an America that truly respects life at every stage,” said Tobias.

Continued Tobias, “President Trump’s record on life speaks for itself.”

After hundreds of pro-life people attended hearings and presented testimonies, are Maine pro-abortion right lawmakers representing the will of the people of Maine?

Hundreds of Pro-Life supporters are expected to attend public hearings on abortions bills supported by Maine Gov. Mills. A May 1 press conference is expected by Maine Right to Life.

62% of Mainer’s opposed the taxpayer funding of abortion. I wonder how Mainer’s feel about funding abortions for out-of-stater’s, at a time when native Mainer’s are struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, and put gas in their cars. I also wonder if women looking to come to Maine for an abortion are aware that Maine: 1. Has no laws requiring safety and cleanliness inspection of abortion clinics. 2. Passed a new law that allows non-doctors to perform abortions. 3. Abortionists are not required admitting privileges to local hospitals if and when something goes wrong. Not only does Governor Mills executive order (like the abortion industry) calls abortion women’s reproductive healthcare, when, in fact and truth, there is nothing reproductive about it (the word “reproductive” means to produce an offspring). Abortion is the taking of an innocent, voiceless human life. Her executive order seeks to review all current laws concerning abortion and lift further restrictions and barriers. Governor Mills executive order is dangerous. Women in Maine and out-of-state deserve better. Maine Right to Life Committee

Row v Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court sending the abortion decision back to individual states for a decision.
24 Jun, 2022
Auburn ME - We are very pleased that the court recognized that abortion on demand was never a part of the constitution. Overturning Roe does not prohibit abortions. Rather, the Court’s decision will allow states to pass Pro-Life legislation. It goes back to the people and state legislature, and it allows states to choose abortion policy representative to the citizens. This is a victory for women, the unborn and the Pro-Life movement that has worked so hard to save and promote life. For far too long, pro-abortion groups have gotten away with the sky-is-falling argument that overturning Roe would outlaw abortions or reverse “abortion rights”. They wanted people to believe that reversing Roe would automatically outlaw abortion. Polls consistently show that there has never been majority support for the holding of Roe which was abortion on demand throughout all 9 months of pregnancy. In a 2021 Marist Poll, 76% of respondents opposed abortion on demand and would limit abortion to the first three months of pregnancy (25%), only in cases of the life of the mother, rape, or incest (28%), only to save the life of the mother (11%) or felt that they should never be permitted in any circumstance (12%). A lot has changed since Roe was decided. In 1973, the technology didn’t exist to allow babies to survive outside the womb at 21 or 22 week’s gestation. With scientific advancement, more babies are surviving prior to what was once considered “viability”. While some have changed their position on abortion with this knowledge, many members of the public, as well as women contemplating abortion may not realize how developed a baby is at various stages of pregnancy. At 15-weeks of gestation, a baby’s heart has been beating for over two months. Brain waves are detectable at 8 weeks. At nine weeks a baby is kicking and swimming. At 10 weeks a baby can begin to hear. Women deserve to get accurate information when facing an unplanned pregnancy. So they can make an informed choice that they can live with a feel good about. In this age of promoting choice to women facing unplanned pregnancy, women deserve to know all of their choices – that they have options, and that abortion is not women’s reproductive healthcare. Knowledge is power, and many people have come to see this issue differently based on what they have come to know and experience. America has grown from the atrocities of slavery and changed. America can grow from the atrocities of abortion and change as well. The Supreme Court decision is the first step. The next step is to educate and heal. God bless America. Belgrade, Maine - Maine stands ready to welcome women and unborn children. Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Maine calls on our citizens, members of the Maine Legislature, and the Executive Branch to strongly support a culture of life that protects all. CWA of Maine State Director Penny Morrell, speaking for Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, has this to say concerning the Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision: “The Supreme Court has finally overturned Roe, and now it is up to us, the people of Maine, to do our part. We must now work tirelessly to elect legislators and a governor who support the culture of life. We are pro-women, pro-babies, and pro-families. We support life from conception to natural death and pregnancy centers that help women make the best decision to keep their babies. Adoption and many other options are available that better serve families. The Dobbs decision will allow the citizens of Maine to debate and discuss this issue with their state legislators. Decisions about abortion going forward will be made by Mainers, not by judges. That is something worth celebrating!” ### Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee is the legislation and advocacy arm of Concerned Women for America , the Nation’s largest public policy organization for women; we are dedicated to promoting Biblical values and Constitutional principles.
